Nursery Ideas

I wanted to do a separate post for this because there's so much I want to share.  The hubby and I have decided to do a Colorful (gender neutral) Woodland themed nursery with an emphasis on owls.  The room is lime green and we have elements of turquoise and orange in there as well.  If we find out we're having a girl we're going with purple curtains and a purple rug.  At this point it doesn't matter what we've have as long as it's healthy.  One thing I haaaaate about some nurseries is that they're too theme-y meaning the crib set, bed set, curtains, all of it is the same pattern.  I'm not that girl.  I want this bedroom to be extremely unique and conducive to learning.

Chris and I are big nature lovers.  We love to hike, fish, explore, and take pictures.  We want our child to love it like we do so we're bringing tons of animals and nature elements into the room.

In addition to animals there are lots of colors to help stimulate the baby's brain and many books for me to read to the baby.  Here's a little tip for any mommies to be reading this:  Don't go out and but brand new books.  Instead hit up your local goodwill store.  I've bought a ton of books there so far between $0.50 and $2.00 a piece!  If you weren't a book lover growing up or simply don't remember what books you read as a kid, go to amazon.com and on listamania type in 'classic children's books'.  I still have a lot of books I want to get like : Goodnight Moon, Love You Forever, and Corduroy.  Those books I may buy new.

Something I'm really excited to do in the baby's room is add a wall decal.  I was looking through baby wall decals before I ever even got married so when I found out I was pregnant I was excited to be able to decide on one and buy it.  Well, I've decided on one.  I originally wanted to go with something woodland, but when I was searching for some discount Shel Silverstein poetry books I found this:

Once I saw the Shel Silverstein Quote I KNEW it had to be in the nursery.  I still haven't figured out where exactly to paste it, but it's definitely going in there!!

Another element I'm excited about is the mobile :)  Etsy has the most adorable(and sometimes expensive) mobiles.  I found a few that I love but have yet to make a decision.

There's this on by Carrot Fever

                                                   This one by feltfields

This adorable little bunny mobile by jessicambaiseku

and lastly this colorful one by

Hopefully I'll be able to make a decision once the room comes together a little more.  I Still have to finish painting the rocking chair and add a cushion, find a changing table, put together the crib bedding, and more.  Luckily I have 9 months to get it done :)
